May 30              -owl walk, balance, “heel, heel, heel”, some ball throw

                            -3 x park hill climb

JUNE 10 - SUNDAY- RESPITE 12 - 10 FOR BUZZ LIGHTYEAR AND THUMBALINA 10 hours
-worked on a lot of compliance with Buzz Lightyear.  repeat after me....

JUNE 13 - 4-6pm
-3.5 km walking
-balloon play in gym (only a few minutes
-attempted hockey in gym-- no participation
-attempted hockey in park -- no participation/inappropriate play (throwing ball in grass or bushes)
-today there were at least 3 events of major non-compliance and a number of minor non compliance.  minor events were usually just him voicing displeasure or concern.  i just kept assuring him that all was well and we kept moving on.  each major event resulted in me stopping the activity and sitting down in front of Buzz Lightyear, providing him with options/choices (one option--the desired outcome, the second option was usually to sit and wait:  do nothing--which took away time from preferred activity)
-each time Buzz Lightyear dug his heels in and began to talk and rationalise what was going on and each time i placed the power of choice on his shoulders.
-the events that I chose to do this at were:
1.    -non compliance of heel walking down stairs (something that he CAN do)
2.    -when Buzz Lightyear screamed I told him he was not allowed to scream unless he was in trouble.  I asked him to repeat that statement.
3.    -Buzz Lightyear was YELLING at me to stop walking (because he had stopped walking-again).  I told him he was not allowed to yell at me/people like that and I needed an apology before I would get moving.  i asked him to repeat an apology statement.
-interestingly he kept mentioning school friends and how they don’t have to apologise
SUNDAY I WILL START WITH A SWIM!!

sUNDAY JUNE 17
SWIM - WORKING ON TRUST AND SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE -

TUESDAY 19 - CANCELLED

sUNDAY 24 -
GREAT WALK TO BURNS BOG (6KM)  MANY SPRINTS IN THE WALK.  BUZZ LIGHTYEAR WAS IN A GREAT MOOD  AND I WAS ABLE TO PUSH HIM ON THIS WALK.  HIS WALKING STRIDE  IS IMPROVING WITH MUCH MORE HEEL STRIKE WITH EACH STEP
STILL THINK THAT ORTHOTIC DEVICE AND STIFFER SHOE (HIGH TOP) WILL BE VERY BENEFICIAL

WEDNESDAY JUNE 27
6k (if not a little more) OBSTACLE walk to bog.  We climbed over every boulder and balanced on every curb we could.  on upper trail of bog we ran up and down the bike trail side outs.
concentrated on quick pace and arm swinging.  the less Buzz Lightyear is holding hands on walks and activities is good for him and is much better for his walking and running mechanics.
the amount of heel toe walking he is doing is improving

**downhill stride is awkward:  footstrike begins with his outside/front of his foot and pronates to his inside/front.  no heel strike whatsoever (particularly his left foot)--looks very unstable

  • big walk from gray to end of sunstone property and back up through Owl forest → park--> stairs (2 x 2) to home

Thumbalina started out with a bang and had an awesome run.  She waned a little bit during the inside session but overall was pretty darn good.  I am seeing good improvements with some coordination.  she was a little reluctant to hold the badminton racquet in the way i showed her grip seemed to naturally evolve into a better one as she got more return hits.  Each time she hit the bird back well she got reinforcement: “nice hit, good grip”.  When she hit the bird back with a crazy hit she got no reinforcement.
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR NOVEMBER 22 - CANCEL
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR SLEEP OVER november 24
        some observations regarding dressing himself:
  • based on his entrenched techniques (t-shirt neck gets stuck on his chin)
    • HE MUST DO THIS ON HIS OWN--ZERO PARENTAL HELP--
      • IN ORDER FOR HIM TO DO THIS SUCCESSFULLY HE NEEDS SHIRTS THAT HE CAN PUT ON HIMSELF
    • SUPER LOOSE NECK, VEE-NECK
    • SOCKS THAT ARE NOT SO TIGHT
  • I like his black shoes.  they give him independence for getting them on

THUMBALINA NOVEMBER  26 1.50HR
  • tired girl !  we did accomplish some but i could tell that she was not on the mark today!
  • run:  7:36.2 - hardly any prompting during the run. (beat her last time!

      • back and forths in the sitting position
        • overhead throws (about 15)
  • the gym opened up!!

  • at every opportunity we did step up and overs on boulders, rock walls, playground at Richardson School
